Town of Tyrone Issues Safe Digging Month Proclamation

Fayette County, GA — The Town of Tyrone issued its Safe Digging Month Proclamation on March 26, 2026, reinforcing the importance of calling 811 before any digging project to protect residents, workers, and underground utilities.

Fayette County Utility Coordination Committee (UCC) stakeholders were onsite for the presentation and to show unified support for safe‑digging practices across the region.

Nationwide, damaged buried utilities cost about $30 billion annually, with failure to contact 811 being the #1 cause. Georgia 811 provides free, statewide utility location services through the “Call Before You Dig” system. Citizens are encouraged to dial 811 or call 1‑800‑282‑7411.

Fayette County extends its appreciation to the Town of Tyrone for its continued partnership and commitment to promoting underground utility safety during April Safe Digging Month.
