Summer Reading Brings Record Attendance to Fayette Library
Fayette County, GA – Fayette County residents know the value of reading. This summer, 30,528 people visited the library, an 11% increase compared to the summer of 2025. The library also circulated 16,934 children’s materials, 970 YA materials, and 7,629 adult materials. Reading was a priority for every age.
Summer reading programs have existed in public libraries for many years. The goal is to keep readers of all ages engaged with books while preventing the “summer slide” before the school year starts. The Fayette County Public Library offered community events this summer featuring a variety of entertainers and activities, including magicians, Taekwondo classes, and language learning.
“Our Summer Reading Program continues to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of reading while bringing our community together,” said Library Director Michelle Bennett-Copeland. “We invite everyone to continue to visit the library and discover all we have to offer.”
The library staff is planning an exciting fall season for the community. This month, residents can look forward to a parent workshop focused on brain development in young children, Spanish classes, and more.
