Understanding The Annual Assessment Notice

  1. Appeal Deadline: You have 45 days from the notice date to appeal the current market value shown on the assessment notice.
  2. Property Ownership as of January 1: Shows the recorded owner of the property as of January 1.
  3. If You No Longer Qualify for a Homestead Exemption: If you no longer qualify for any homestead exemption listed on this notice, by law, you must notify the Fayette County Assessor's office immediately.
  4.  Exemptions You Can Qualify for: During the 45-day appeal period, you may apply for homestead exemptions or specialized assessments.
  5. Appeal Rights and Who to Contact: Explains how to file an appeal and who to contact if you have questions.
  6. Property-Specific Information: Details specific to the property being appraised.
  7. Values: displays the previous year's value, the current year's value, and any preferential assessment value if applicable
  8. Current Year Other Value: If your property is in a special assessment program (CUVA), this shows the reduced value.
  9. Reason for change: Shows the reason for the value change since last year.
  10. Exemptions applied to your property: List of any exemptions you currently receive and the dates they apply (if applicable)
  11.  How much you saved from Exemptions: Shows the estimated amount of tax savings you receive because of your exemptions
  12. How your Exemptions Savings were Calculated: Shows how the exemption amounts in this notice were calculated
