The existing public safety radio system contains many components that are nearing their end of life. Fayette County is in the early stages of a comprehensive needs assessment to upgrade and/or replace the existing radio system with state of the art system based on the current market of the industry. This project will include replacement of County radios for Building & Grounds Department, EMA, Road Department, Sheriff Department (mobile and portable), Fire & EMS Department, and Water System.
All subscriber radios have been ordered in accordance with Change Order #1 which was approved by the Board of Commissioners on 8/22/19. Work is ongoing for tower site acquisition and upgrades. (Last Updated: 9/10/19)
