Emerald Lake Dam in the Woodlands Subdivision is classified by the Georgia Safe Dams Program as a Category 2 structure. It is approximately 600 feet long and impounds a 20-acre lake. Significant work is needed on the dam, with the most pressing issue being active and on-going seepage erosion around the dam’s principal spillway. Work will include the construction of a 40 foot labyrinth weir, placement of bridge over the weir, roadway reconstruction, installation of new riser pipe and comprehensive drain system, and stabilization. *Budget changes reflect action by the Board of Commissioners.
Construction of the new dam and spillway is complete. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on August 30, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. A few final tasks remain active. (Last Update: 09/18/2018)
