Emerald Lake Dam in the Woodlands Subdivision is classified by the Georgia Safe Dams Program as a Category 2 structure. It is approximately 600 feet long and impounds a 20-acre lake. Significant work is needed on the dam, with the most pressing issue being active and on-going seepage erosion around the dam’s principal spillway. Work will include the construction of a 40 foot labyrinth weir, placement of bridge over the weir, roadway reconstruction, installation of new riser pipe and comprehensive drain system, and stabilization. *Budget changes reflect action by the Board of Commissioners.
Latest Update:
Construction of the new dam and spillway is complete. Punch list items have been addressed by the Contractor and Fayette County is in process of closing out the project. (Last Update: 11/19/2018)
