SPLOST PROJECT
Kenwood Rd. @ New Hope Rd.

Click here for larger image in PDF format *

The alignment of Kenwood Road will be changed so that it intersects New Hope Road at as close to 90° as possible. Some new Right-of-Way and pavement will be required for this adjustment. The second major improvement associated with this project is the addition of a left turn lane on New Hope Road.

The project will improve safety by increasing sight distances and providing more controlled left hand turns onto Kenwood Rd. This project does not include a traffic signal. Traffic on Kenwood Road will continue to be controlled with a stop sign. The speed limit will remain as posted on both of these roads.

Due to the additional pavement needed for the realignment of Kenwood Road, additional right-of-way and grading easements were needed from three properties. All other road improvements will occur within the existing right-of-way.

This project will be funded completely with Fayette County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax dollars. The SPLOST was approved by the County citizens in 2004 and is in effect from April 2005 to March 2010. This project has been awarded to B & J Paving. Construction is scheduled to begin in December of 2009.
