
The Board of Commissioners recognized Chief Jack Krakeel, Deputy Chief Allen McCullough and Captain Steven Folden at the May 27th Board of Commissioners Meeting for their efforts in the implementation of the Fayette County Public Access Defibrillator Program.

More than 250 Fayette County Employees have been trained and certified to the American Heart Association Standards in basic life support and utilization of the AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). Twenty-five AED’s have been installed in various Fayette County Government facilities. In addition, the Fire and Emergency Services department has worked with the Fayette County Board of Education in the implementation of AED’s in the various educational facilities and private sector organizations such as churches and businesses.

“This year marks another advance in improving cardiac care by extending the AED program throughout the community, “ said Chief Jack Krakeel. In 2001, Fayette County received the distinction as a Heart Safe Community by the American Heart Association.
