Fayette Senior Services Recognized.
Fayette
County Board of Commissioners recently declared the month of May
as “Older Americans’ Month.” The Board of Commissioners
presented a proclamation to representatives of Fayette Senior Services
at the May 13th Board of Commissioners Meeting.
Fayette Senior Services is a nonprofit organization that provides
information and assistance for senior adults and care givers; case
management, homemaker or personal care services; and a senior center
that provides noon meals and opportunities for recreation, education
and socialization. They also provide senior employment referrals,
van service to the senior center, USDA food distribution and volunteer
opportunities.
“The Fayette Senior Services program is the only program
in the Atlanta region that is run by an independent board rather
than the governments. In some ways this is the reason that Fayette
County’s program still has the heart and the personal touch
that are missing in some of the other programs,” said Chairman
Dunn. |
