At their meeting on December 9, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners recognized Chief Butch Hall who will be retiring from county government on December 31, after 29 years of service to Fayette County. Since 1989, Chief Hall has served as Chief Marshal under the Board of Commissioners. Prior to 1989, Butch served as the Chief Deputy under Sheriff Randall Johnson for 13 years, after having been originally hired by the previous Sheriff, James Jones, in 1975.
“This community and this Board hold Butch Hall in very high regard. He has served the citizens of this county very, very well. His professionalism and integrity are beyond reproach and no one will ever be able to replace what Butch Hall has brought to our community. We wish him well but will miss him terribly”, said County Commission Chairman Greg Dunn.
Chief Hall has accepted a position with newly-elected District Attorney Scott Ballard as an investigator in the D.A.’s Office.
