Chairman Greg Dunn explained that the County had also received from the Senior Services Board a property deed worth $75,000 and that the Board of Commissioners already has on hand a building fund account in the amount of $138,000 to be used towards the project as well. Also, several years ago, the County set aside a site for a future Senior Center on the Justice Center campus in Fayetteville.
Last year the Board of Commissioners voted to assume the responsibility for the construction of the new Senior Services Center. “We want to provide a center for the senior citizens of this county that provides recreation and other services equivalent to the accustomed quality of the lifestyle in Fayette County.”said Chairman Dunn. He explained that the construction of the new facility will be managed by Fayette County and the building will be owned by the County, but Fayette Senior Services will continue to operate and manage the facility as it has for many years. “We want to continue the incredible partnership we have enjoyed with Fayette Senior Services”, Dunn said.
