The Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine L. Venice as County Administrator for Fayette County. Mrs. Venice has served in the role of Acting Administrator since February of this year.

An 18-year employee of Fayette County, Mrs. Venice has served as the Director of the county’s Community Development Division since 2003. Previously she had served as Director of Planning and Zoning and as Zoning Administrator for the county since her employment in 1988.

Mrs. Venice is a native of Michigan. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Urban Studies from St. Olaf College and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin. Prior to her employment with Fayette County, Mrs. Venice’s 28 year career includes numerous public and private sector positions in planning and economic development.

County Commission Chairman Greg Dunn said today, “Chris Venice is an extraordinary planner, manager and leader. She has worked with our incumbent Commissioners for many years. We trust her judgement, respect her intellect and we know of no one who has a more in-depth understanding of the issues which impact our county and the Atlanta region. I can’t imagine anyone better qualified to take on this challenge. I believe every citizen will be very pleased to have a person of her talent and integrity running their county government on a day-to-day basis”.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Board of Commissioners, and our county employees, to implement the Board’s priority of accountability in our county government, and to achieve the goal of providing the taxpayer with the best customer service possible in the most efficient manner”, Venice said. She and her husband Gary have resided in south Fayette since 1987.
