At a groundbreaking ceremony on August 16, Fayette officials marked the beginning of the development of a 172-acre park in the Kenwood area of north Fayette County. The site was purchased more than two years ago and will be developed in phases over the next 5 to 6 years.

Phase I of the development will include a multi-purpose field

Phase I of the development will include a multi-purpose field, a running track, four tennis courts, four basketball courts, four horseshoe courts, two volleyball courts, concession and restroom facilities and walking trails. This phase is estimated to be completed in approximately 2 years. Phases II and III will follow immediately.

The master plan for the development of this park is intended to meet some of the County’s recreation needs revealed by a comprehensive countywide study completed earlier this year.
