Commissioner VanLandingham, Commissioner Frady,
Commissioner Wells and Commissioner Pfeifer break ground for the opening
ceremony of Kenwood Park
At a groundbreaking ceremony on August 16, Fayette officials marked the beginning of the development of a 172-acre park in the Kenwood area of north Fayette County. The site was purchased more than two years ago and will be developed in phases over the next 5 to 6 years.

Phase I of the development will include a multi-purpose field, a running track, four tennis courts, four basketball courts, four horseshoe courts, two volleyball courts, concession and restroom facilities and walking trails. This phase is estimated to be completed in approximately 2 years. Phases II and III will follow immediately.

Citizens study the master plan of the park
The master plan for the development of this park is intended to meet some of the County’s recreation needs revealed by a comprehensive countywide study completed earlier this year.
