County Begins Park Development

alt

At a groundbreaking ceremony on August 16, Fayette officials will mark the beginning of the development of a 172-acre park in the Kenwood area of north Fayette County. The site was purchased more than two years ago and will be developed in phases over the next 5 to 6 years.

The initial phase of development will include a multi-purpose field, a running track, four tennis courts, four basketball courts, four horseshoe courts, two volleyball courts, concession and restroom facilities and walking trails. The master plan for the development of this park is intended to meet some of the County’s recreation needs revealed by a comprehensive countywide study completed earlier this year.

The public is invited to join the County Commissioners for the groundbreaking at 10:00 a.m on August 16. The location of the event will be on the east side of State Highway 279 north of the intersection with Kenwood Road.
