Red Hat Society Day in Fayette County

At the April 6, 2005 Board of Commissioners Meeting, the Commissioners proclaimed April 25, 2005 as Red Hat Society Day in Fayette County.

Two local chapters, known as the Fayette Foxy Red Hatters and the Perky Purple Weekenders, are part of the popular national phenomenon that now has more than a million members nationwide. These ladies believe that inside every woman there is a youthful, fun-loving party gal that emerges the moment she dons an outlandish red hat.

“It is great to have such fun-loving ladies among us. They are a caring, super group of ladies that share joy even during troubled times,” said Chairman Greg Dunn.
