Fayette County Email System Down

The Fayette County Email System has been down since 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. The problem has been identified and it is projected that service will be restored by the close of business on Thursday, Feb. 23. Due to this failure there is a high probability that data has been lost from the email system. Therefore, if you have been corresponding by email recently, the information may no longer be in the system and recent information sent may not have been delivered.

Rezoning Petition Withdrawn

Mr. Joel Ogletree of Fayette Center Pointe, LLC, has withdrawn his request to rezone his property located at the intersection of State Highway 54 and Flat Creek Trail from A-R to O-I. The public hearing for this rezoning originally scheduled to be held by the Fayette County Board of Commissioners at 7 pm on February 23 has been cancelled.

If the property owner wishes to apply for a rezoning in the future, whether for an O-I classification or any other zoning classification, he will be required to refile and follow the same process that has been required this far.

Severe Weather Awareness Week

Severe Weather Awareness Week is an excellent time to talk with your families and businesses about planning for Severe Weather.

Feb. 22 there will be a Statewide Tornado drill. This is a good time to practice, with both your family and work, where the safest place to go during severe weather, especially tornado warnings.  * If there is severe weather on the 22nd. the Statewide drill will be moved to that Friday.

The Department would like to encourage residents to print this one page information sheet out and educate all members of their families about what to do before severe weather strikes.

Inman Road Bridge to be closed for repairs

Inman Road will be closed for repairs starting 1/24/06 for approximately 2 months 3/24/06. The Contractor will finish this site and move to make repairs on the Lowery Road Bridge behind the dam at Lake Horton from 3/24/06 until 5/24/06. All work may be done sooner weather depending. Detour signing will be in plae in each case as needed.
