Outdoor Burning Ban

The Fayette County Department of Fire & Emergency Service would like to remind all residents that the ban on outdoor burning will be implemented beginning Monday, May 1. All residential and commercial outdoor burning will be banned until October 1.

Book Signing with Sue Monk Kidd

Sue Monk Kidd, author of the bestseller “The Secret Life of Bees” and “The Mermaid Chair,” will appear for a book signing and talk on Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m.  Free admission.  Open to the public.  Fayette County Administrative Complex Public Meeting Room, 140 Stonewall Ave., Fayetteville, GA.  Gala reception and book signing will follow at Fayette County Public Library, 1821 Heritage Park Way, Fayetteville, GA, directly behind the Fayette County Administrative Complex. Both “The Mermaid Chair” and “The Secret Life of Bees” will be on sale at the event. Ms. Kidd will read from and discuss her novel “The Mermaid Chair”. Robert Horgan Sworn into Office

Robert Horgan took the oath of office as Fayette County Commissioner, Post 1, on March 30, 2006. Probate Judge Martha Stephenson swore him in. Mr. Horgan will attend his first meeting in his official role as County Commissioner on Wednesday, April 5 at 3:30 p.m. His term will expire December 31, 2008.

Road Closures:

Mar 3, 2006: Inman Road to Reopen

Inman Road will be open for traffic on Saturday, March 4, 2006

Feb 16, 2006: Lowery Road Bridge to be closed

Lowery Road Bridge (behind Lake Horton Dam) will be closed for repairs beginning March 1, 2006 for approximately 2 months. Please use Grant Road and SR 92 as detour routes. Call 770-461-3142 x 6172 for additional info as needed.

July 28, 2005: Two County Road Still Closed

Following heavy rains earlier this month, two Fayette County roads, Wagon Wheel Circle and Mann Road, remain closed. Work to repair damage continues but there is no word at this time when these roads will reopen.
