

The Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation declaring the month of April 2006 as Confederate History and Heritage Month and April 26, 2006 Confederate Memorial Day in Fayette County.“In doing so we honor those who dedicated their lives to protecting and preserving their families, homes and communities during a difficult time in our Nation’s history”, Chairman Dunn read from the Proclamation.
Members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, General LaFayette McLaws Camp #79, accepted the Proclamation at the April 1 County Commission Meeting. These members have visited 15 Fayette County public and private schools this year educating over 3,000 students on the history of Georgia.
