The Fayette County Building Grounds and Maintenance Department is doing its part to ensure the four County parks are conserving water. Waterless urinals have been installed in the restrooms along with replacing the high flow toilets. The waterless urinals can save up to 40,000 gallons of water a year and require minimum maintenance. The replacement of the high flow toilets saves 2 gallons of water per flush. Aerators were installed on all the sink faucets which reduced the amount of water flow.
The parks are being monitored closely to ensure water leaks are found and repaired quickly to alleviate unnecessary water loss. Seasonal plants were not planted this year in the parks to save on watering and organic fertilizers were used on the fields as it requires minimal watering. The parks comply with the same watering restrictions as our county residents. If drought conditions worsen field playing time will be limited.
