NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Fayette County Parks and Recreation Commission will conduct a series of Public Hearings during their regularly scheduled meetings to be held on Tuesdays, July 8, August 12, September 9, and October 14, 7:00 p.m. These meetings will be held at the Activities House located at 980 Redwine Road, Fayetteville, Georgia 30215. The purpose of these hearings is for the Recreation Commission to receive citizen input regarding the policies, procedures, relationships and interaction between the Fayette County Parks and Recreation Department, the Recreation Commission, and Fayette County Youth Athletic Associations and others who utilize county-owned park facilities. Fayette Animal Shelter to offer new services Fayetteville, GA – On July 1, 2008, the Fayette Animal Shelter will begin offering new services and will be implementing a new fee schedule. Throughout the past 4 years, the shelter has revamped many of its shelter and field services and increased standards to attempt to raise the rate of pet adoption. To reach this goal, the shelter has implemented a variety of physical upgrades and undergone many additional changes such as preventative health care plans, new ventilation solutions, cleaning protocols, isolation standards and other policies have all been enhanced in order to better assist the constant stream of homeless animals.. ...Read More. |

Official Statement Today, the County issued a warrant for the arrest of a Fayette County Government employee, Mrs. Joyce Payne. Mrs. Payne, an eleven-year county employee who was employed in the Human Resources Department, is suspected of falsifying documents during a period from February through September, 2007. The falsified documents enabled her to divert public funds in the amount of $6,218.00 for her own personal use. Read More. |

| Level Four Drought Response Continues For Most of North Georgia
With extreme drought conditions stretching across the northern third of Georgia and a forecast for a dry summer, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has announced that level four outdoor watering restrictions will remain in place for EPD permitted utilities and local governments in 55 counties. However, the level four restrictions will be lifted in six counties where drought conditions have improved and replaced. Learn More |
