Coming Soon ! New Recycling Facilities

The Engineering Department is pleased to announce the installation of a new recycling facility at the Fayette County Landfill/Transfer Station that has been implemented in conjunction with Waste Management, Inc. and Pratt Recycling (USA).  A recycling compactor has been installed and should be fully operational within the next week.  Watch for the dates!  The compactor will accept newspaper, cardboard, magazines, office paper, telephone books, plastics, glass, aluminum cans, and steel cans all in the same bin. NO MORE SORTING REQUIRED!!  The compacted material will then be hauled to a materials recovery facility in East Point where the recyclables are sorted by a technical process and packaged separately for marketing. Following the cleanup of the area where separate recycling bins are currently located, we plan to install a facility to accept electronics and computers. Watch this website for more recycling news.
