Each year the Georgia Chapter of APCO (Association of Public Safety Communications Officers) recognizes a communications officer for the job they do. This year, we are proud to announce that Communications Operator Kelli Hutchinson has been selected by the awards committee as the Georgia APCO Communications Officer of the Year. Kelli handled a domestic incident that led to shots fired at an officer and did so while maintaining her composure and ensuring help was dispatched to the officer in need. After the incident, it was determined that the officer was under fire but was not struck. The perpetrator was later apprehended.
As part of her recognition, Kelli will attend the Georgia APCO spring training conference at St. Simons Island, Georgia where she will be presented the award on Thursday, March 15. She will also receive a year's membership to National APCO.
Congratulations Kelli Hutchinson!
