DEPARTMENT ADDS QUINT 8 AND QUINT 10 FIRE APPARATUS

Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services has placed into service one of two new fire apparatus known as Quints.  Quint 8 (currently in service) and Quint 10 (scheduled to be in-service within two weeks) will be stationed at Fire Station No. 8 located on Flat Creek Trail and Fire Station No. 10 on Seay Road.  The Quint fire apparatus were approved last year in the 2006 Vehicle Replacement Schedule of the budget process along with the approval of the position for Fire Apparatus Operator, to serve as the Quint engineer in driving operations, hydraulic water pumping, and in aerial ladder operation.

FAYETTE COUNTY FIREWORKS

It is 2:00 a.m. the morning after the 4th of July. You are awakened by a strange noise and light in your backyard. You peer out the bedroom window only to see flames burning the underbrush and trees in the yard and the fire is approaching your home. The neighbors behind your residence had a large illegal fireworks display and stray fireworks must have smoldered through the night and has started a large brush fire that is threatening your home and your neighborhood. That scenario is exactly what Fayette County Public Safety officials are trying to avoid.
