Fayette County Animal Control Officer Wins Award

Fayetteville, GA - Fayette County and its Animal Control Division has a lot to celebrate amidst the heat of summer.  Aside from managing well through one of the most detrimental seasons to animal welfare, the staff’s dedication has recently been acknowledged by state and regional organizations. 

On June 7th 2007, Donna Evans, a Fayette County Animal Control officer with 18 years of service to Fayette County, was presented with the “Exceptional Animal Control Officer” award by the Southeastern Animal Control Association.

Fire Department Promotes New Officers

On Thursday July 26th two new officers were sworn in by Commission Chairman Jack Smith. Randy Hitch was promoted to the position of Operations Captain. Captain Hitch is assigned at station 3 in Tyrone. Captain Hitch is a 13 year veteran with Fire and Emergency Services. Jason Crenshaw was promoted to the position of Operations Lieutenant. Lieutenant Crenshaw is assigned to station 6 in Brooks. Lieutenant Crenshaw is an 8 year veteran with Fire and Emergency Services. The swearing in ceremony took place at the commission meeting in the public meeting room

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Approves Drinking Water Reservoir Project

The Fayette County Commission is pleased to announce that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued its approval for the long-awaited construction of the proposed Lake McIntosh Drinking Water Reservoir Project, the last in a list of state and federal agencies required to give approval for the construction of reservoir projects in Georgia.

Water Plant Receives Gold Award

The Gold Award was presented by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals for complete and consistent compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act for the year 2006. The Crosstown Water Plant and the South Fayette Water Plant each received the award.
