| 01.16.07 | Road Construction on GA Highway 85 at Morning Creek Beginning January 17, 2007, C. W. Mathews Contracting Company will create “lane shifts” within the bridge construction area on GA Highway 85 at Morning Creek. This is approximately ½ mile north of Fayetteville. The work is expected to take approximately five months. Officials state there will continue to be two lanes of travel in each direction. Between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. additional “lane shifts” will be in place to accommodate construction. Motorists traveling this portion of GA Highway 85 should reduce their speed and expect possible delays in this area.

The Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services recently held its Fall Cadet 2006 Graduation Ceremony.
The 2007 Fayette County Commissioners held their first meeting on Wednesday, January 3, 2007. The first two items on the agenda were the election of a chairman and vice chair.
