Jack Krakeel Chosen to Serve as Interim County Administrator

The Fayette County Commissioners have selected Jack Krakeel to serve as the interim County Administrator, following the resignation of Chris Venice on April 18.

Krakeel’s career in public safety spans 30 years, 22 of which have been with Fayette County. He has been at the helm of Fayette County’s Division of Public Safety since 1994. His responsibilities have included direction of Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, E-911, and Animal Control.

Outdoor Burning Ban Effective May 1

The Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind all residents and developers that the outdoor burning ban will go into effect beginning May 1. No outdoor burning will be allowed until the ban is lifted on October 1.

Until May 1, residents should call the automated burn permit line at 770-461-1321 Ext 5468 to obtain a permit to burn. Developers wishing to burn debris from land clearing should contact the Department at 770-461-1321 Ext 5414.

 
 

GA EPD Declares Level Two Drought Response Statewide

The director of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division(EPD) has declared a level two drought response across the state and will require all Georgians to follow a more stringent outdoor water use schedule.

Peggy Glaze Approved for Senior Member Status with APCO

Congratulations to Peggy Glaze for having been approved for Senior Member status within the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International.  Peggy was nominated by the Georgia Chapter and her nomination has been certified by the APCO International Credentials Committee and approved by the APCO International Board of Officers.

Georgia EPD Reminds Citizens to Follow Outdoor Watering Schedules

Persistent dry conditions across most of Georgia are a reminder that the state is under a level one drought declaration, which requires that all citizens follow a schedule for outdoor watering.
