Fred Sisson named the Director of Fayette County Animal Services
In 1979 after pursuing different jobs, Mr. Sisson was able to achieve his dream of working with animals by being hired as a kennel worker at the Atlanta Humane Society. Mr. Sisson worked for the Atlanta Humane Society with increasing roles and responsibilities that included the management and care and feeding operations for the Society's kennel. He supervised, trained and evaluated various employees, and handled public relation activities, and monitored and eradicated diseases in the facility. Through his many years in animal services, Mr. Sisson has had extensive training that includes attending the Emory School of Medicine and West Georgia and DeKalb colleges to further enhance his education and ability to care for animals. In April 2004, Mr. Sisson began his career with Fayette County Animal Services as a Supervisor. Through Mr. Sisson's vast knowledge and experience in animal services, he quickly became a great asset to the animal shelter operations. Director of Public Safety Allen McCullough, who oversees Animal Services states, "Fred's vast experience and knowledge of animal services will help Fayette County Animal Services continue to enforce animal control ordinances and most importantly the humane treatment and care of animals countywide." Mr. Sisson's responsibility as the Director of Animal Services will include the management and day-to-day operations of the Fayette County Animal Shelter, the enforcement of local, state and federal codes and ordinances as they relate to animal care and humane treatment of animals; pet adoption, oversight of the staff, budget, and public education. Mr. Sisson is married to a former Atlanta Humane Society volunteer who also shares his passion and love for animals. He lives in Fayette County and has two children, and yes his pets.
