2008 ACTIVE SPLOST PROJECTS
The Board of Commissioners is happy to announce that Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) projects are underway! Your SPLOST dollars are hard at work towards the design and construction of transportation projects to include new road construction, road widening and intersection improvements. Two projects began in May 2008, and should be completed by the fall of 2009. These projects are the West Fayetteville Bypass and the widening of Jimmie Mayfield Boulevard. Nearly 20.3 miles of road resurfacing projects throughout Fayette County are beginning in June 2008. These projects will involve repairing roads in poor condition and overlaying with a new asphalt riding surface. This will improve the life expectancy and quality of our roads within the County.
Intersection improvement plan designs for Corinth at SR 85, Gingercake Road at SR 92, Ebenezer Road & Brittney Way at SR 54 and Sandy Creek Road at SR 74 are being completed. Bidding and construction for these intersections should begin in the summer of 2008.
