  • Clerk of Courts - land and property records of the county as well as the civil and criminal files and records in the courts served
  • Superior Court -
    • civil: divorce, personal lawsuits, domestic violence, child support, name change
    • criminal: felony charges
    • other: real estate deeds, plats
  • State Court -
    • civil: torts (personal injury, etc.), contract disputes, appeals
      from Magistrate Court, garnishments, dispossessory actions (landlord/tenant disputes), personal property foreclosures
    • criminal: misdemeanors, traffic citations, county ordinance violations
  • Magistrate Court -
    • civil: garnishments, lawsuits under $15,000, landlord/tenant dispossessory,abandoned motor vehicles and personal property foreclosures
    • criminal: warrants
    • other: wedding ceremonies

  • Juvenile Court -
    • all cases involving people under 17 years of age -
      custody, deprivation, felony charges
  • Probate Court -
    • wills, birth certificates, death certificates, marriage license, firearm license, guardianship (not custody), certificate of residency

  • District Attorney -
    • prosecution of criminal offenses that occur within Fayette, Pike, Spalding and Upson Counties
  • Solicitor General -
    • Fayette County State Court Prosecutor, domestic violence, teen driving laws, victim assistance
