Herb Frady
County Commissioner
Herb Frady is presently serving in his 16th year as a County Commissioner. He began his fourth consecutive term on January 1, 2005. He was first elected in 1992, and again in 1996, 2000, and 2004. He holds the record for consecutive years of service as a Commissioner in Fayette County. His current term expires on December 31, 2008. Herb was elected from what is known as the County’s Commission Post 2, even though County Commissioners in Fayette County are elected from voters from throughout the entire county. Herb was chosen by his fellow Board members to serve as the 2007 and 2008 Vice Chairman.
Herb was born in Cherokee County, Georgia, and lived there until he entered the Air Force, where he served for four years. Afterwards, he completed real estate school and attended Georgia State University. Herb married his lovely wife Shirley in 1959. They raised four children and have ten grandchildren. The Frady family first moved to Fayette County in 1975.
Over the years, Herb has owned a number of companies, including several eating establishments. He and Shirley owned the popular eatery, “Frady’s”, in Peachtree City for more than ten years, where they became well-known members of the community. Herb was hired by M.A. Industries in Peachtree City in 1980 as a corporate pilot and later became the Vice President and General Manager of this worldwide operation. He retired from his position there in 1993. Herb’s political career began in 1977 when he was elected to serve on the Peachtree City Council. He went on to be elected to serve two terms as Mayor of Peachtree City.
In his leisure time, Herb enjoys traveling and gardening with Shirley. They spend as much time as possible with their children and grandchildren. They are long time members of the First Baptist Church of Peachtree City.
