Eric Maxwell
County Commissioner
Eric Maxwell was elected to the Post 5 At-Large seat on the County Commission and took office on January 1, 2007. His current term will expire on December 31, 2010.
Eric has been a resident of Fayette County since 1973. He graduated from Fayette County High School in 1977. He earned his B.S. degree in political science from West Georgia College and was awarded a law degree from the Mercer University School of Law in 1991. Eric maintains a private law practice located in the historic Travis House located in the Main Street District of Downtown Fayetteville.
Eric has previously served as the Chief Judge of the Municipal Court of the City of Peachtree City and the Judge Pro Hac Vice of the State Court of Fayette County and the Municipal Court of the City of Fayetteville.
Eric is currently a member of the Peachtree City Rotary Club and served as its President for the 2000-2001 term. He is a current member of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and has just completed a three-year term on its Board of Directors. Eric is a past-president of the Fayette County Bar Association. In 2006, he was appointed to the Griffin Judicial Circuit Indigent Defense Committee by Governor Sonny Perdue.
